Off the Court: Bobby Jackson

June 8, 2007

What does 10-year NBA guard Bobby Jackson do when he’s not playing basketball? Hornets.com sat down with the University of Minnesota product to find out more about his interests away from the game of hoops.

Favorite type of music and groups: “I like everything. Rap, gospel, R&B. If you have a nice beat and aren’t saying anything bad in your rhymes, I will pretty much listen to you.  I think that R&B and gospel are my favorites. The older I get, I seem to be converting over to music that is a little mellower.”

Favorite TV show: “I have a lot of them. I watch Desperate Housewives, Lost, Prison Break, Grey’s Anatomy.”

Reality TV thoughts: “I like it. I think it is good for TV. It’s real.”

Favorite movie of all time: “I don’t really have a favorite movie of all time, but I love watching movies, period. I like comedies. Anything that Martin Lawrence has done in the past, I like it.”

Funniest movie ever seen: “I’m gonna say… [laughs] anything with Martin Lawrence.”

Time spent online per day: “Not a lot. I am not an internet guy. I may get on the internet maybe once in a two-week span”

Favorite non-basketball Web site: [laughs] “iTunes.”

Football or baseball? “Football. It’s more physical, and there is more action.”

What he’d be doing if he weren’t an NBA player: “Man, I don’t know what the heck I’d be doing. I’m glad I’m doing what I am doing, though.”

Favorite athlete as a kid: Michael Jordan.

Best friends on other NBA teams: Sacramento guard Mike Bibby, Minnesota forward Kevin Garnett, Sacramento guard Kevin Martin, Miami guard Eddie Jones.

Best friends in other pro sports: “I’m not that well-known, [laughs] so I don’t have that many other friends in other sports.”

First job: “I was a lifeguard when I was 16.”
