Hornets Trade for Marc Jackson

OKLAHOMA CITY - The New Orleans/Oklahoma City Hornets obtained veteran NBA big man Marc Jackson, forward Linton Johnson III and cash considerations Thursday from the New Jersey Nets, in exchange for forward Bostjan Nachbar.

In his sixth NBA campaign and first as a member of the New Jersey Nets, Jackson has appeared in 37 games so far in 2005-06. The 6-foot-10 Philadelphia native is averaging 4.6 points and 2.4 rebounds per game.

Jackson, who played under John Chaney at the University of Temple, began his NBA career with Golden State and later suited up for Minnesota and Philadelphia.

"Where Jackson excels is at the offensive end, where he is unusually skilled for a player of his size," described ESPN.com writer John Hollinger in his 2005-06 Pro Basketball Forecast. "He loves to shoot from the top of the key and is very accurate from there. His wide frame allows him to establish excellent post position. Defensively, Jackson's strength helps him to muscle opposing centers."

Johnson is in his third NBA season. A former member of the Chicago Bulls and San Antonio Spurs, he's played in a total of 52 games. The Tulane alum is averaging 1.2 points per game this season.

Nachbar joins the Nets, his third NBA team. The Slovenia native has career averages of 5.1 points and 2.0 rebounds in 155 games.
