HOST DAY OF SERVICE IN NEW ORLEANS
Team donates two Hornets tickets to every volunteer
October 1, 2009
The New Orleans Hornets are partnering with the United Way to encourage local New Orleans residents to spend the day giving back to the community on Saturday, Oct.3. Every volunteer who participates will receive two complimentary tickets to the Hornets vs. Oklahoma City Thunder preseason game on Saturday, Oct.10 at 1 p.m. at the New Orleans Arena.
“We have numerous projects organized with United Way partner agencies to allow season ticket holders, corporate partners, staff members and the general public to unite to beautify our great city,” said Hornets Owner George Shinn. “This day of service is part of the overall Hornets Planet Rebound initiative, and we are excited to invite the entire city out to join us in our efforts to beautify New Orleans.”
There are more than 15 available projects that include landscaping, rebuilding homes, painting and cleaning up trash and debris at different locations around New Orleans and the Northshore. The day of service hopes to encourage more than 1,000 volunteers to rebuild and rejuvenate local neighborhoods. For those who are unable to participate in the day of service on Oct. 3 but would still like to help those in need, donations can be made to agencies that are lacking specific materials and still receive tickets to the Hornets game.
