The Charlotte Bobcats headed to Canton, OH on Oct. 15 and won their second straight preseason game, defeating the Cleveland Cavaliers, 92-74. Kemba Walker led the way for the Bobcats with 14 points and five assists. Gerald Henderson contributed 13 points and one rebound.
After finding themselves down 42-40 at the half, Charlotte took a commanding 72-59 lead by outscoring the Cavaliers 32-17 in the third quarter… With five players scoring in double figures – Kemba Walker (14), Gerald Henderson (13), Josh McRoberts (11), Ramon Sessions (11), and Ben Gordon (10), the Cats rallied from a slow start that found them down 27-17 after the first quarter. From that point, the Cats outscored the Cavs, 75-47… The Cats also prevailed on the defensive end once again, holding a Cavaliers team averaging 104.5 points per game in the preseason to only 74 points.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
Strong defensive play and dominance in the paint told the story for the Cats. Charlotte grabbed 40 rebounds, swiped 13 steals and blocked six shots while forcing 25 Cleveland turnovers leading to 23 points… Offensively, the Cats had their best preseason performance shooting 44.1 percent (30-for-68) from the field. With big men Al Jefferson (ankle) and Brendan Haywood (foot) out with injuries, Charlotte still outscored the Cavs, 36-20, in the paint.
BOBCATS PLAYER OF THE GAME
Kemba Walker led the Bobcats in scoring with 14 points on 6-for-14 shooting. He added five assists, three steals, two rebounds and one block while turning it over only twice in 30 minutes.
BOBCATS TOP RESERVE
Ramon Sessions continues to provide solid play as a sixth man, leading the Bobcats bench with 11 points on 4-of-7 shooting to go with two assists and one steal in 18 minutes of play.
CAVALIERS PLAYER OF THE GAME
Cleveland star Kyrie Irving led his team in scoring with 15 points. He also hauled down four rebounds and dished out four assists.
With Al Jefferson out, Bismack Biyombo continues to give the Bobcats energetic play on the boards. He pulled down a game-high 11 rebounds along with scoring five points and blocking two shots in his second-straight start… Cody Zeller came off the bench for the Cats for the first time in the preseason and added seven points and nine rebounds in 26 minutes of play… Josh McRoberts was effective in his first start of the preseason, finishing with 11 points on 5-for-8 shooting. He added four rebounds, four steals and two assists in 29 minutes.
