New Orleans (February 5, 2003) - The New Orleans Hornets announced that local record label Cash Money/Universal Records has committed to giving back to the community where the groundbreaking label originated. Cash Money has purchased 200 Hornets season tickets to be allocated to children's groups in the New Orleans area. The "Cash Money for Kids" program will be officially launched at the February 5th game against the Sacramento Kings at the New Orleans Arena.
Founded by brothers Ronald "Slim" Williams and Bryan "Baby" Williams, Cash Money was established in 1991 and has quickly gained national attention with
its quick rise to fame. The founding brothers, natives of New Orleans, have created a label that has sold over ten million albums in the past five years
while also continuing to give back to the community.
The brothers have also launched the Johnny & Gladys Williams Foundation, named in memory of their
deceased parents. The foundation donates food and offers scholarships throughout the year and every Thanksgiving for the past four years, the
successful hip-hop label has hosted a free turkey giveaway.
"Baby and I wanted to reward kids who are doing well in school, this is one way," said Ronald "Slim" Williams.
"This act is a validation of people doing good things," Hornets majority owner George Shinn said.
"Ronald and Bryan are two young men using their platform to reach their community in a positive way," he continued.
"Cash Money Records is setting a great example with this act of generosity," Hornets co-owner Ray Wooldridge said. "Ronald and Bryan have
not forgotten their roots and are committed to helping others in the New Orleans area. These tickets are just one more way that they continue to give
back to their community."
Cash Money is setting the stage for others to provide assistance to our most valuable assets - our kids. To help kids be a part of the Hornets
