Al Jefferson put on a show in Hollywood, tying a career-high with 40 points and adding 18 rebounds for his third-straight double-double as the Cats defeated the Lakers, 110-100, on Jan 31 in Los Angeles. Gerald Henderson pitched in 20 points for Charlotte in the win.
The Cats went on a 20-8 run between the end of the first and beginning of the second quarter to stretch their lead 44-32. The Lakers were able to cut the deficit to as little as five with 4:28 left in the half. Al Jefferson and Gerald Henderson were able to connect on easy looks inside to help the Cats go on a 12-4 run going into halftime. The Cats would stay in control the rest of the game, never seeing their lead dip below eight points.

Charlotte finished with three players in double figures – Al Jefferson (40), Gerald Henderson (20) and Michael Kidd-Gilchrist (10)… The Cats dominated the interior on both ends of the court in Los Angeles. The Cats outscored the Lakers in the paint, 64-38, the biggest margin for Charlotte this season in that category (+26). Charlotte also out-rebounded the Lakers, 49-41, and dished out more assists (28) than L.A. (23)… The Lakers did shoot a better percentage from three (23.1 percent) and from the free-throw line (81.5 percent), but Charlotte was able to shoot more efficiently from the field overall going 46-for-88 (52.3 percent). The Cats are now a perfect 5-0 on the season when they shoot 50 percent or more from the field.

Al Jefferson continued his dominance in the paint for the Cats. His 40 points and 18 rebounds put him in the company of Kevin Durant as the only players to record three-consecutive games of 30 points and 10 rebounds in the NBA this season.
LAKERS PLAYER OF THE GAME
Pau Gasol proved to be the only source of consistency for the Lakers, finishing with 24 points on 9-for-17 shooting to go with nine rebounds in 33 minutes of action.
Charlotte won its 21st game of the season, equaling the Cats win total from last season…The Cats also beat the Lakers to snap their six-game losing streak against L.A…Charlotte notched its 10th road victory of the season, it had six all of last season…Al Jefferson has scored 20+ points in 11 consecutive games, breaking a Bobcats franchise record…Jefferson posted his 21st double-double this season and 15th in his last 23 games…Jefferson has finished in double-figures for the 33rd time in 35 games and 36th time this season...
