Hornets Sign Devin Brown
Veteran Guard Brings Depth to Backcourt
December 22, 2006 OKLAHOMA CITY - The New Orleans/Oklahoma City Hornets announced today that they have signed free agent guard Devin Brown. (Read Devin Brown's bio) “Devin is a proven NBA player and he’ll help strengthen our backcourt with his ability to play both the shooting guard and the small forward positions,” said Hornets General Manager Jeff Bower. “He will be able to come in and fill some of the void left by the injuries to Bobby Jackson, Peja Stojakovic and David West.” Brown (6-5, 220) is a four-year NBA veteran, holding career averages of 6.3 points, 2.5 rebounds and 1.1 assists in 216 games while a member of the Denver Nuggets, San Antonio Spurs and Utah Jazz. The undrafted product of the University of Texas-San Antonio appeared in 81 of 82 games (14 starts) and played in a career-high 21.1 minutes for the Utah Jazz during the 2005-06 season, averaging a career-high 7.5 points along with 2.6 rebounds and 1.3 assists. Brown scored in double figures 24 times on the season, including two 20+ point games. He averaged 7.4 points per game for San Antonio in 2004-05 to help the Spurs win the NBA championship. |
