Al Jefferson nearly recorded a triple-double with 32 points, 12 rebounds and a career-high seven assists to lead the Cats to an important 108-96 win over a Pistons team trying to take over the eighth spot in the Eastern Conference on Feb. 19 in Detroit. Kemba Walker added 22 points and six assists for Charlotte in the victory.
The Cats came out looking fresh offensively, draining their first eight shots in the first quarter. As a team they shot 21-for-36 (58.3 percent) from the field in the first half, on their way to a 54-43 halftime lead. The Cats kept their foot on the gas in the third quarter inflating their lead to as large as 19 points, but they cooled off in the fourth, letting the Pistons get to within eight. However, Al Jefferson took over late in the quarter and the Cats put the game away.

Charlotte was set the tone in many different areas against the Pistons, particularly shooting the basketball. The Cats shot 52.0 percent from the field and 41.2 percent from three, compared to 39.8 percent and 31.3 percent for the Pistons… Charlotte was also able to pass the ball effectively to find good looks. The Cats recorded 25 assists on the night and saw two players record season and career highs in assists, as Al Jefferson and Gerald Henderson dished out seven apiece… With Greg Monroe and Andre Drummond patrolling the lane, Detroit was able to keep up with Charlotte in down low, outscoring the Cats in the paint 54-52 and outrebounding Charlotte 52-43… The Cats bench did a solid job keeping the pace, scoring 21 points to the Pistons 13…Charlotte had two players finish with double-doubles – Al Jefferson (32 points, 12 rebounds) and Josh McRoberts (14 points, 10 rebounds).

Al Jefferson took over offensively once again, leading the way for Charlotte with a near triple-double of 32 points, 12 rebounds and a career-high seven assists. It is Jefferson’s sixth 30-point game in his last nine games, five of which he had 10+ rebounds.
PISTONS PLAYER OF THE GAME
Brandon Jennings put up a team-high 24 points on 7-of-18 shooting and handed out seven assists in 38 minutes for Detroit in the loss.
The Cats lead the season series 2-0 against the Pistons with one game left to play… With the win, Charlotte has 12 road victories on the season, one away from the franchise record… Al Jefferson recorded his 24th double-double of the season. Jefferson has 18 double-doubles in his last 29 games and 25 in his last 39 contests… … Josh McRoberts continues to shoot well from beyond the arc, connecting on 3-of-5 three-pointers against Detroit. McRoberts is now shooting 32-for-63 from beyond the three-point line (.507) over his last 15 games. McRoberts recorded his second double-double and fourth double-figure rebounding game this season… The Cats improve to 6-2 this season when Kemba Walker and Al Jefferson score 20 points or more in the same game… Charlotte is a perfect 7-0 when it shoots 50.0 percent or better from the field.
