New Orleans, July 17, 2007 -- The National Basketball Association unveiled the new NBA All-Star 2008
logo for the first time Tuesday, during a Jr. NBA/Jr. WNBA clinic at
Tulane University. The 57th All-Star Game will be played at New Orleans
Arena on Sunday, Feb. 17, 2008. A weeklong celebration, NBA All-Star
showcases NBA players' passion for the game, engagement with fans,
commitment to community and respect for the history and tradition of the
game. The 2008 game will mark the first time that NBA All-Star will be
held in New Orleans.
The logo features the Hornets' Mardi Gras colors of teal, purple and
gold. It also includes several distinct New Orleans touches, including
brass instruments that acknowledge the city's rich musical history, as
well as a depiction of the wrought iron material commonly used in Big
Easy balconies.
Over 250 boys and girls ages 9-13 from the New Orleans community
attended Tuesday's clinic and wore T-shirts bearing the NBA All-Star
2008 logo. The event was attended by NBA legend Clyde Drexler, New
Orleans Hornets second-year player Hilton Armstrong, Fort Wayne Mad Ants
head coach Kent Davison of the D-League and women's basketball legend
Katrina McClain.
