Nuggets Cruise to Win Over Hornets

The Denver Nuggets outscored the New Orleans/Oklahoma City Hornets 32-20 in the second quarter en route to a 99-80 victory. The Hornets had a one point advantage (23-22) after the first quarter before the Nuggets took control in the second quarter.

First-Rounders Impress Scott on Defense

For a third straight game in Vegas Summer League competition Tuesday, the Hornets’ offensive attack often appeared disjointed and out of sync. As a result of its sometimes sloppy decision-making and execution, New Orleans/Oklahoma City finished its 70-58 win over the Washington Wizards at 40 percent from the field.

Hornets Second-Half Run Beats Wizards

The New Orleans/Oklahoma City Hornets came out of the half strong and cruised to a 70–58 win over the Washington Wizards in the nightcap of the Toshiba Vegas Summer League. The Hornets opened the half on a 35-19 run, thanks to six points from Brandon Bass and five from Kirk Snyder during the run.

Cavs Deal Hornets Third TVSL Loss

The Cleveland Cavaliers beat the New Orleans/Oklahoma City Hornets 78-70 Wednesday afternoon. The Cavaliers had a 42-37 halftime lead, but the Hornets started the second half strong, taking the lead at 56-55 on an Ezra Williams jumper. Following a Cedric Simmons dunk that gave the Hornets a 58-55 lead, Cleveland went on a 10-0 run to stretch their lead to seven.

Armstrong’s 20-Point Game Highlights Defeat vs. Cavs

A day after Hornets assistant and Vegas Summer League head coach Kenny Gattison wanted to see a concerted effort to get the ball inside on offense, New Orleans/Oklahoma City made sure that its frontcourt players were involved all game Wednesday. Hornets first-round pick Hilton Armstrong was the biggest recipient of the squad’s inside-out approach.

MVP Foye leads T-Wolves over Hornets

If there is one player in the Toshiba Vegas Summer League that has stood out more than others, it is Minnesota’s Randy Foye. Foye, the seventh overall pick in the draft, shined once again, pouring in 19 points (6-12 FG) in a 73-65 win over the New Orleans/Oklahoma City Hornets.

I had the great fortune (or misfortune – as my body would tell you) to recently spend 14 days in Las Vegas attending the Toshiba Vegas Summer League. Now, I know most of you will want to hear about all of the adventures of my time in Sin City, but my days were comprised of sitting in the 70-degree Cox Pavilion on the campus of UNLV, as I watched 12 hours of NBA basketball each day for nine straight days. You math wizards can figure out that I still had 12 hours left in each day after the basketball marathons, but as they say: “What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas.”

Minnesota’s Foye Headlines Vegas Stars

In addition to his role with the Hornets, Rogers is the Director of Public Relations for the Toshiba Vegas Summer League (a role he has had since the inception of the league three years ago).
