Hornets Post Game Quotes

Head Coach Byron Scott:
“They played harder. That’s the bottom line. I told our guys, they are full of themselves if they step on the court and think teams are scared of them. They haven’t done enough to make teams scared of us. We got to compete and we are not doing that.”

“I think we need to play harder. That’s the bottom line. I don’t think we competed at the level that we have to compete at to play in this league. Like I said to them, each guy needs to go home tonight and look in that mirror and ask themselves ‘Am I playing as hard as I can play?’ It starts with the individual and goes on to the team. We are not playing 110%. We are not playing like it’s the last quarter of the last game. We are not playing with that sense of urgency. Like I told them, I don’t know what we are waiting on. If we wait 10 or 15 more games, we are going be out of this conference.”

Hornets Forward David West
On the loss:
“This is a bad loss for us. We definitely have taken steps back as a team. We’re going to have to come together and make a push because right now teams are just walking over us. This is another game where I feel like (we’re) at home (and) have a few days rest. We’re not supposed to lose this game. They made some tough shots. We didn’t defend. They were basically running the same two plays down the stretch and we couldn’t figure it out. Bobby (Jackson) hit some big shots out of that corner. We just couldn’t keep pace with them.”

“This is the first game that we got out-gunned defensively. We just weren’t snappy enough. I’m really disappointed with this loss. This is a bad one.”

Hornets Forward Peja Stojakovic
On Sacramento:
“They haven’t been playing good basketball and they have a couple of hurt players. Playing at home and coming off of a bad stretch, we were hoping for better energy on both ends of the floor. (We were hoping for) more consistency, which we didn’t have.”

“They really executed well offensively down the stretch. They moved the ball with the pick and roll. Bobby (Jackson) got a couple of good looks.”

Kings Post Game Quotes

Head Coach Reggie Theus:
On the game:
“There is something in sports and life in general, and that’s character. Our guys showed great character tonight. This was a tough road trip playing against two teams that had three days off. We played horrible last night, and we came back tonight and played with a lot of heart, a lot of pride. To hold this team to 41 points in the second half is an enormous feat.”

On his young players:
“We believe that we are in a rebuilding situation, but at the same time we want to be competitive. We want to win as many games as possible, but at the same time we want to develop our young guys. They’ve been coming through with flying colors. The guys are hungry, they’re energetic. I love seeing the young guys when something happens on the floor, they’re the first guys up on the bench. It was just a great team win.”

On Donte Green’s play:
“Donte Green did a very good job coming in and starting tonight. That was just a personnel decision on my part, and I thought the rookie came through with flying colors.”

On John Salmons’ play:
“John’s been solid; he’s been stable the whole time. It wasn’t so much the number of points he scored tonight. I thought that he just moved the basketball a lot better and got the ball to the open guys. When we needed baskets, he was there also. I thought he carried us in the first half.”

Kings Guard Bobby Jackson
On his 4th quarter shots:
“That’s how I play. I’ve done it all my career. I don’t mind taking the big shots. I like that pressure. If you give me the ball everybody knows I’m going to shoot it. You either make it or miss it. I don’t care if I make it or miss it.”

On coming back to New Orleans and getting a win
“It was big. No one wants to get traded. Every team you play against you want to beat that team and play well. I didn’t make any shots in the 1st half, but this game is 48 minutes. I try to do the right things defensively and offensively to give us a chance to win and we did that tonight. We played extremely well considering what we did last night (109-94 loss to Memphis).”
