Hornets Post Game Quotes

Head Coach Byron Scott:
On the game:
“I told the guys before the game, we are a wounded animal. Our backs are against the wall and we have no other choice but to come out fighting and we did that for 48 minutes.”

On the bench:
“We had great contributions from a lot of our guys that will not show up in the box scores. Sean Marks was terrific, he was active. He did a heck of a job on the defensive end and rebounded the ball. Antonio Daniels gave us a big lift in the 1st half, allowing me to take CP (Chris Paul) off the ball and also take him off Tony Parker.”

Hornets Guard Antonio Daniels
On the difference between the Knicks game and tonight:
“When you have a game like that, you put it behind you as quick as possible. The thing that we didn’t have, which is a sign of a good team, is that carry over from that game to this game. I think the starters did a great job of coming out this third quarter and making sure that we didn’t have that same let down that we had in New York. That kind of set the tone for the second half.”

Hornets Forward Julian Wright
On his play tonight:
“The first half I think it came down to just not being aggressive as I could be. The second half I just tried to do that and help the team by getting past the lane, getting steals, running the floor. I think that always takes the toll on an opposing team when you run the floor hard.”

Spurs Post Game Quotes

Head Coach Gregg Popovich
On the game:
“They played sharper than we did for more minutes than we did, and so they won the game. It’s a big win for them. Obviously they were undermanned, pretty significantly, and they did a great job. We had an abysmal night from 3, and that would have helped a great deal, but they didn’t go down. It comes down to execution and playing aggressively, and in that regard, they took advantage of us not making 3s and just did a great job.”

On the Hornets’ play:
“They played more aggressively than we did and they wanted the game more than we did. They executed better and played harder than we did for more minutes.”

Spurs Forward Tim Duncan
On the game:
“I don’t think we’re playing tight or doing anything specifically. We’re just playing. I think we were moving the ball pretty well. Tonight, besides our execution down the stretch, I thought we played pretty well. It’s just we didn’t get enough shots to go down. We have to continue to shoot the open ones and hope for the best. I thought we had a lot of great shots. The guys that shoot those shots, usually on a regular basis, knock them down for us. It didn’t go and we didn’t win the game down the stretch.”

Spurs Guard Tony Parker
On the first half:
“They limited Tim’s touches in the first quarter. Second quarter, we tried to focus and get him the ball to take advantage. Sean Marks and their big buys had a lot of foul trouble.”

On the game:
“We did not play a very good game. I think we played a bad one, not only because of missed shots, we stopped the ball defensively, but offensively we did not attack as hard. So, they got it because they deserved it. They played better than us.”
