Hornets Post Game Quotes

Head Coach Byron Scott:
On the game:
“We got ourselves in a bind by giving them a bonus with 8 and half minutes left in the quarter. We had to keep them out of the lane a keep contesting jump shots.

On David West:
“The last three or four games it just hasn’t been the David West we know. We will sit down and talk a little bit tomorrow to see where he is at mentally. If I had to guess I would have to say that it has to do with him playing so many minutes. He got more rest tonight then he has in a while.”

Hornets Forward David West
On the game:
“We had to get this win. We haven’t played well…I couldn’t get rhythm I have been kind of out of it the past three or four games.”

On the pick n roll with Chris at the end:
“I felt like if I were to catch it in an Iso (Isolation) situation then they would have loaded up. When CP has the ball he can be a lot more dangerous (than myself).”

Hornets Center Hilton Armstrong
On season high rebounds and blocks:
“It was a great opportunity to get out there and play hard and defensively it seemed like I was at the right place at the right time.”

On his aggressive play:
“It’s been awhile and I am real hungry right now. I just want to get out there and play as much as possible. “

Timberwolves Post Game Quotes

Head Coach Kevin McHale
On the game:
“We got some good shots, Brian (Cardinal) probably had a chance to put the final nail in the coffin. In the third quarter we ran plays and we got a good shots but to their credit they came down. Chris (Paul) did what he did and got (David) West to dunk. Randy (Foye) had a very good shot at the end it was just in and out. We had our chances.”

On Hilton Armstrong:
“Hilton (Armstrong) did a nice job of blocking shots early. He was a little disruptive, but we got it under control.”

Timberwolves Forward Kevin Love
On his second consecutive double-double against Southwest Conference teams:
“It was the same kind of thing as last night (against San Antonio) where I got off to a slow start early, and then came out in the second half putting it behind me and trying to get the win. We ran some good plays down the stretch and I got some good shots.”

On the free-throws late that gave Minnesota the lead:
“With a playoff team like (the Hornets), you never want to jump out ahead of yourself and think that you definitely have a win, you just want to make the free throws, stay poised and don’t expect the win, but go out and keep getting stops.”

On the play of starting Hornets center Hilton Armstrong:
“He was getting a lot of rebounds, a lot of balls were bouncing his way early and he was doing his job early. He’s a big, long, strong player so we all had to do a job on him in the second half.”

On losing the lead late in the game:
“We’ve had chances to win late, most recently at Portland, we had a chance to win that game and hopefully things will turn around for us and next season those shots will be falling for us and we’ll be on the opposite end of the totem pole. Sometimes it feels like we’re beating our heads against a wall. Early in the season, we felt if we could just catch a break, we could turn things around. But then in January, the last time we were here, really bad things happened (the season-ending injury to Al Jefferson). We’re all just trying to get better in these last few weeks and then prepare for next season.”
