On his Antonio: “I talked to AD about being a little bit more aggressive. Lately he’s being doing a good job of running the show. But I also thought that he’s being running it a little bit too much where he hasn’t been looking for his open shots. Sometimes the defense was really giving him shots, but he didn’t want to take it because he wanted to run the team. He didn’t want to be like somebody we else we just got rid of…no names mentioned. On the Hornets play: “The first half I wasn’t really happy. We were scoring, but we knew we needed to take care of things on the defensive end. Overall it was a good game.” On the Clippers: “I didn’t want to take a whole lot a chances, I know that they are a dangerous team. They are playing with a lot of freedom; they’re not playing for anything. You got guys playing for contracts and things like that; those are the type of teams that are the most dangerous.”
On playing the L.A. teams: “Whenever you’re playing against an L.A. team, I know everybody back at home is watching. I try to put on a little show.” On not wanting to have a letdown tonight: “Definitely not. We know that this is a team that has some injuries. The thing you don’t want to do is have them come in and get some confidence early in the game and then they become a dangerous team. So we wanted to get out early and get a good lead, which we did.”

On the game: “We didn’t get off to a great start as far as covering their (the Hornets) three point shooters in the first half. They got hot and got on a roll, and they were able to stretch our defense. Our guys had a couple of good runs back, but they had the answers for them. They made their shots and they got the offensive rebounds, that was the difference. On his team’s play: “We had a good effort. But we played last night, and the back to back games get tough on you. They took advantage of that. We’re playing only seven or eight guys. They had good size on us and we over-corrected on our shots.” On Chris Paul: “Chris Paul was able to get his dribble penetration and was able to capitalize on it. The Hornets are playing well together, and Chris Paul is Chris Paul. Every year he’s going to be in the conversation for MVP.”
On the game: “They played pretty good team defense. Every shot for us was very tough. They were hot from the start, hitting three’s early and that was a big difference.” On the effort: “We played hard. We play together. We don’t get away from teams. We’ve been losing a lot of games, but most of them have been close. We’re always going to stick together. We have a lot of guys injured. Hopefully when they come back, we’ll get more wins.” On Chris Paul: “He’s a different guy. He can pass. You never know what he’s going to do, but you know he’s going to get the ball to the right guy. That’s a tough team. Whenever you have three-point shooters with him they are really hard to beat.” |
