Hornets Post Game Quotes

Head Coach Byron Scott:
On the game:
“We were doing much better in the second half. first quarter both teams were a little bit shaky. We had six quick turnovers which gave them some easy buckets but after that we seemed to kind of settle down. We had 11 turnovers at half time we just cut that down to four in the second half so we did a good job of taking care of the ball and we also did a good job of forcing turnovers which gives us a better opportunity of getting some points on the other end. I think defensively we did a pretty good job all night which is what was required in order to win this game tonight.”

Hornets Forward Peja Stojakovic
On the game:
“Our defense was way better in the second half than it was in the first half. We got defensive boards and our bench stepped up big tonight. Everybody has to play better when players are out. It was an amazing team effort.”

On Devin Brown’s play:
“The guy is a professional and he understands he has to be ready. All the guys are ready for the opportunity.”

Hornets Guard Devin Brown
On his game:
”You just always have to be ready in that situation. That’s what veteran players have to do. When you get an opportunity to play you have to take advantage of it.”

On the bench play:
“We have to be ready. Some other games we came out lackadaisical and teams took advantage of it, but tonight we knew how big this game was after the effort we gave the last time in Denver. So we came out ready, picked it up in the second half and got a win.”

Nuggets Post Game Quotes

Head Coach George Karl:
On Chris Paul’s chances for MVP:
“I think it’s too early for me to make that prediction. But I’ve said before that there are four guys right now that I think are head and shoulders above everybody. Chris is one of them; Dwight Howard, LeBron (James) and Kobe (Bryant). I think one of those four is going to win it. We’ll have to see what happens in the next 35-40 games.”

On the loss:
“So many of our losses, our frustration is that our offense kind of falls apart from the standpoint of shot selection and turnovers. One habit that is kind of scaring me is our turnovers. It just seems like we’re too risky with the ball.”

On his team’s play:
“The thing that drives me crazy about our team is that we don’t understand what we do well sometimes on the offensive end of the court. We’re a very small team, and our penetration was hurting them, and then everybody just started throwing up jump shots. They are a great shooting team. They win games because of their shooting; we don’t win games because of our shooting.”

Nuggets Guard Chauncey Billups
On the Hornets winning the fourth quarter:
“Well, they started to get going. They had some transition going. They had the opportunity in transition to find some of their shooters. One thing about this team is that you can’t let those 3 balls become a factor because you’ve got a guy like Chris (Paul) who is going to break the D(defense) down and create a disadvantage. Their shooters are out there. That was one of the points in the game where they got to play their style of ball.”

Nuggets Guard Kenyon Martin
On turnovers tonight:
“We were throwing the ball all over the place. We’ve got to get it under control.”

On not winning as many games as the team would like without Carmelo Anthony in the lineup:
"We would like to win more, but it is what it is. We will welcome him back this Friday, or whenever it is, we don’t want him to rush anything, but if he is ready to play, we will welcome him back.”
