Hornets Post Game Quotes

Head Coach Byron Scott:
On his team:
“I’m real comfortable with (James) Posey, (Rasual) Butler is playing really well, I think AD (Antonio Daniels) is playing well off the bench. I’m struggling with Devin (Brown) and Mo (Morris Peterson), one of those guys needs to give us something. Hilton (Armstrong) has done a solid job. So the rotation is about eight or nine guys right now.”

Hornets Guard Rasual Butler
On hitting his shots:
“CP did a great job of finding me. They tried to double-down on David (West) but when we got in our rotation on the clean swings, I was able to knock down some shots.”

On the game:
“We approached this game as a must win, but we definitely almost lost this game. That’s a good basketball team over there. Mike James really filled it up. We didn’t want to go on this road trip following a loss.”

On the next two away games:
“We have to play with a little more energy and a little bit more effort and we can’t just start that in the second quarter.”

Wizards Post Game Quotes

Head Coach Ed Tapscott:
On the game:
“The difference in the game was their (the Hornets) three-point shooting, and Chris Paul. We sustained it for a while. They kept pressing, and once they got that one run, we just couldn’t answer. We kept coming back, and then there was that one period there late where they just separated, and we could never quite get it back.”

On the Hornets’ play:
“It’s a well constructed team. You’ve got Chris (Paul) with the ball, and he has the best vision in the league. Then you’ve got some big guys who can catch around the basket, and then you’ve got guys that can space you out and shoot the ball for three. You end up picking your poison, and it makes for very tough choices.”

On Antawn Jamison:
“He plays very, very hard. I thought he brought his “A” game as he usually does. He just didn’t have enough from the rest of our guys. A lot of guys played hard, but we just couldn’t get accomplished what we wanted to get accomplished. But a lot of that is attributable to the Hornets. We take our blame and our responsibility for the things we failed to do as well.”

Wizards Guard DeShawn Stevenson
On the game:
“We have to keep working hard on offense, keep working hard on the defensive end and I think we’ll be fine. I thought we were in the game. We made some plays, but those guys made more. Chris Paul is a good point (guard). He got his guys some easy shots and (Rasual) Butler hurt us with those corner threes. As long as we continue to play like we are, unselfish, and get Caron back, I think we’ll be fine.”

Wizards Guard Mike James
On the game:
“There’s no such thing as individual victories. There’s no such thing as moral victories. The only way you’re judged in this game is wins and losses. It’s tough that we got the L (loss) tonight. We just have to get back in the lab and get ready for the next one. Chris Paul is their generator. They go as he does. He played well tonight. He got the job done for them and they always feed off his energy. Rasual (Butler) knocked down some big shots and that was it.”

On the trade:
“It wasn’t that I was happy to leave here, this was one of the best teams I’ve ever played for. It was like a family for me.”
