Hornets Post Game Quotes

Head Coach Byron Scott:
On the 4th quarter:
“I wasn’t very happy, their job is to basically come out there and compete and do what the first team did and compete every single night. I think they understand where I was coming from after the game. I wasn’t very happy with it and that is a shame because I thought we played great for three quarters and then we played the fourth quarter like it didn’t matter. In my eyes it does matter it matters for playing time and rotation purposes. I tell them to win the quarter. In our plus and minus system we gauge everybody……we were minus 15 as a group their job is to go in and win the fourth quarter

Hornets Center Tyson Chandler
On the game:
“We’ve been doing a lot better job defensively the last couple of games. It’s been starting fast breaks and getting us better shots. It was fun out there. It was a good night.”

Hornets Forward David West
On the game:
“We’re not really worried about rest, we just want to continue to take care of ourselves and come out aggressive. We want to go out on the road with a good feeling about ourselves and be ready to go out and compete. I thought we responded better. We’re playing at a different level of basketball right now. We just want to keep that up.”

Bobcats Post Game Quotes

Head Coach Larry Brown
On playing better in the second half:
“That was because of Byron (Scott). Byron took care of his old coach. He was real good to us. It was like the varsity and the JV. If it wasn’t for him being so gracious substituting like he did, I don’t know what (the score) would have been. We were short handed. Some young guys got a chance to play and some guys that wanted to get a chance to play played….D.J. (Augustin) played great. It was nice for him to have that kind of opportunity here in front of his family and so many people. I was proud of that.

On the Hornets tonight:
“They played great. They shot the ball. Chris gets some shots, but they just dominated us from the board. As many open shots as they had, it really disappoints me that we just had no effort on the board at all with the way that we started out.

On the Hornets:
“They’re playing at a really high level. I thought that Chris played great on offense, but he was better defensively. Their bigs challenged every shot. They really did a great job. Butler did a great job. …Posey, all of them (played great on defense). I thought that was the big difference. They sustained their defense a lot better than the first game. They’re a different team. I’ve watched them the last couple of weeks. They’re starting to play like they played like last year.”

Bobcats Guard D.J. Augustin
On his homecoming:
“It felt great. I had all of my support here. Everybody from New Orleans came to see me play and support me. It was great.”

On the game:
“The Hornets are a great team, especially when they are pushing the ball up. Chris Paul does a great job finding everybody. They were knocking down shots tonight.”

On his play:
“I just play hard no matter what. No matter where we’re at. I just want to win. I was trying to play hard the whole game.”

Bobcats Guard Matt Carroll
On his play:
“It felt really good being out there and getting some good minutes. It felt good to be able to knock some shots down. I kind of felt like myself again.”

On D.J. Augustin’s play:
“I think most guys, especially rookies, get nervous when they play in front of friends and family. But D.J. sure didn’t. He just showed how much of a special player he is and how good he’s going to be.”
