Hornets Post Game Quotes

Head Coach Byron Scott:
On the game:
“I didn’t really think we came out ready to play in the 3rd. Our guys looked like a bunch of tired guys out there. Fatigue was allowed to be a factor. The 4th quarter we tried to pick it back up but that it was too late; you can’t turn that switch on and off. I didn’t know if we were going to come out and let last night’s game catapult us into the way I hope we can play, or if we were going to come out tired. It’s unfortunate because last night was a great win.

On the bench:
“We needed big time help off the bench and we just aren’t getting it. That’s the bottom line. It is just disappointing that we aren’t getting the help we need, to win we have to have 6 or 7 guys come out and play hard especially in the western conference.”

“We may have to get to the point to have to just rest those guys (West and Paul). We are already in the playoffs and we might just need to sacrifice the wins and rest them.”

Hornets Guard Rasual Butler
On the game:
“Teams are going to try to switch up their defensive schemes, and we just need to find ways to get good looks at the bucket. We were just trying to get some stops and try to get some quick shots at the goal. We were able to knock down some of those shots. We made a last little push.”

On the remaining games:
“The games against Dallas are huge. It will give us the tiebreaker if we win down there. We’ve beaten them three times. We may see them in the playoffs anyway. We need to try to start playing playoff atmosphere type basketball.”

Hornets Forward David West
On the game:
“I just thought we started doubling Shaq to early. They (the Suns) had other guys who made some shots. We just didn’t have an answer in terms of adjusting to what they were trying to do offensively. They really came out aggressively. I thought we had a stretch where we were kind of indecisive about what we wanted to do with Shaq, and that came back to bite us.”

On the remaining games:
“It’s like a playoff series with Dallas. We have two games with them, with huge implications. We need to try to go down to Dallas and steal one. We just need to try to pick up wins.”

Suns Post Game Quotes

Head Coach Alvin Gentry:
On the game:
"That was a great win for us especially after the way we played in Dallas. I said that we could play out the last five games and see what happens. Obviously we aren't going to the playoffs, but for those guys to play the way they played tonight, it shows the character on this team."

On Chris Paul:
"With Chris Paul you have to make him try to make all the shots, if you trap him and he gets Peja (Stojakovic) involved and Rasual (Butler) involved you can get in trouble. We made him shoot all the shots. If you don't do that he will stretch your defense and kill you."

Suns Center Shaquille O'Neal
"We weren't worried even though they rallied. We had a good plan and stuck to it. The great Mr. Paul, we stuck to him and guys stepped up and hit shots. Coulda? Coulda doesn't get you where you need to go. This place (Louisiana) will always have a special place in my heart. I had a pretty good game and the guys were looking for me. Every time I got doubled I kicked it out. Jared (Dudley) hit some big shots. Grant (Hill) hit some big shots."

Suns Forward Jared Dudley
"We have to dedicate this one to the coaching staff. They came up with a plan to make Chris Paul a scorer, stay under our screens and try to take everybody away. It wasn't until the end that Stojakovic really got going. (David) West was solid, but he didn't really have a big night. Butler, we kept in check. No one really hurt us off their bench. You credit them, but we played our game and offensively we put a lot of pressure on them."
