| Wednesday, April 1, 2009 Final Score: New Orleans 104, Los Angeles 98 Hornets Post Game Quotes
On the defensive play of Hornets: “Our defense started to lock in a little bit better. We did a really good job of getting out to Zach [Randolph] in traffic and our rotations were much better. Then offensively, we just made shots. CP [Chris Paul] created so much space and opportunities for himself and our guys.”
On the play of David West: “That’s why he is a two time all-star, a leader on this team and he is our go-to-guy. It’s huge, just the fact that he is out there on the court is a plus. Even though he is not as mobile as usual, nothing is wrong with his arms and he can still knock down shots.” On playing through injuries: “Even though we have injuries guys are stepping up. The guys that are playing those minutes now will have confidence coming off the bench.” Clippers Post Game Quotes
On turnovers: “There was one spot on the score sheet that cost us the game- turnovers. Giving another team that many more possessions in a game puts in you a tough position, especially playing a team like New Orleans, with Chris Paul.” On the play of Chris Paul: “Chris Paul leads the league in steals most years. If he is in the neighborhood, you know what his intentions are. You have to either wait for him to clear, or you have to move the ball and make him pay the price for hanging around. His quickness and strength is why he is able to get as many steals as he does. In most of those turnovers we were just too careless.” On the play of Clippers: “We got into a stretch where we took better care of the ball and we defended a little bit better. We had stretches where they had a hard time guarding Zach [Randolph] and we made plays. We have to take our strength, which is the low post, allow teams to double team down below and then create shots for guys like [Steve] Novak on the perimeter.”
On the play of Clippers: “We played hard but we made a lot of careless turnovers, we missed a couple shots in the beginning of the game that threw us off track. We were careless with the ball.” On Chris Paul’s play: “He is hard to guard, he has a lot of dirty moves and he comes off screens. I take some of the blame for letting him go every which way but it is tough to stop him in every possession.”
On the Clippers loss: “We tried to be aggressive, we hit the boards and we are not good rebounders. Also, they shoot a lot of jump shots so we need to work on defensive rebounding. The important thing to do is take care of the ball and we did not do that tonight.” |
