August 11, 2008

The New Orleans Hornets announced today that they have re-signed free agent forward Ryan Bowen. Per team policy, terms of the contract were not released.

“We’re very pleased to re-sign Ryan due to his ability to provide a spark off the bench and how well he fits in with our team,” said Hornets General Manager Jeff Bower. “Ryan is a great asset to our team both on and off the court. When he is on the court, he has a nose for the ball and is always giving his all to help our team in anyway possible.”

The 6-9 native of Fort Madison, Iowa, appeared in 53 games (four starts) with the Hornets last season, averaging 2.2 points and 1.9 rebounds in 12.5 minutes of play. He appeared in nine of the 12 playoff games, averaging 1.6 rebounds in 4.3 minutes of play.

“I wanted to remain with the Hornets and I am thrilled this deal was able to happen,” Bowen said. “The organization has done a tremendous job this offseason by showing a commitment to strengthening our team and I am excited about the potential of the upcoming season.”
