Do you really want to have to tell your friends that you feel asleep on the sofa when Rasual Butler chose to make NBA history from three-point range?

Hornet Henry on Radio: New ’Blogger’ Status
By: Hornet Henry, Hornets.com

December 8, 2006

Hey Hornets fans, let’s make some (weekly radio) nooooo-iiiiiise!
I made yet another fantastic appearance on Sean Kelley’s spectacular “Hornets Insider” show this week. By the way, make sure you stay in my good graces by tuning in to “Hornets Insider” every Thursday. The show airs in New Orleans at 7 p.m. on WODT (1280 AM), as well as in Oklahoma City at 4 p.m. on KEBC (1340 AM). Please note that the show will take a well-deserved one-week hiatus on Dec. 14, but is scheduled to resume the following week on Dec. 21.
Here is the transcript from this week’s appearance by yours truly:

Good day, Hornets fans! This is Hornet Henry, the insightful and handsome fan columnist for the best website in the NBA, Hornets.com.
Before I proceed, I have an announcement to make: After consulting with my teenage son and daughter, I learned recently that “columnist” is a term used mostly by old-school types like myself. My two teens, Zo and Kelly, tell me it’s no longer cool to be referred to as a website “columnist.” Apparently the hip term to describe people who write on the Internet is now “blogger.” So from this point forward, I would like to be referred to as Hornets.com’s premier fan BLOGGER.
Well, my fellow teal and gold backers, it appears as though someone has offended the basketball gods. How else to explain the current situation, where as a result of rampant injuries, we do not have the services of David West, Peja Stojakovic or Bobby Jackson on the current West Coast trip.
No D West? No Serbian Sensation? No Bulldog Bobby? What kind of nonsense is this? If this stream of ailments continues, the Hornets may need to call on the services of Hornet Henry! Sure, I may be in my mid-40s, but I still possess a lethal jump shot and a crossover that would make that Iverson fella drool. And yes, I may have lost a step or six on defense, but the Hornets need scoring punch!
Even though the team is clearly not at full strength right now, this is no time for excuses. Remember, self-respecting Hornets fans don’t make excuses, and neither do the players! I am still expecting high-quality performances from the boys on Friday in Seattle and Saturday at Golden State.
Speaking of which, you may need to take a few extra naps and rest up this weekend, because the games against the SuperSonics and Warriors both start at 9:30 p.m. Central. If there was ever a time when the Hornets needed your support, it is NOW, people.
Remember, no excuses. I don’t want to hear that the game was on too late and that it’s past your bedtime. Think about this frightening possibility: If you doze off during one of these two games, you could easily miss another Chris Paul triple-double! Do you want to have to tell people that when Rasual Butler decided to become the first player in NBA history to make 15 three-pointers in one game, you were catching some Z’s? Didn’t think so.
Well, I’ll get off my soapbox for now. Make sure you tune in to Friday’s “Hornets Warmup” pregame radio show on the Hornets Radio Network, beginning at 9 p.m. Then listen in to the unmitigated brilliance of Sean Kelley and Gerry V as they call all the action between the Hornets and Sonics.
Until next time, this is Hornet Henry, the Hornets’ premier fan BLOGGER. Go Hornets!
