Hornets Post Game Quotes

Head Coach Jeff Bower
On the game:
“The Nets' fast break points totally controlled the game. Their ability to turn stops and turnovers into points got them out early and gave them some energy and some confidence and the Nets took it from there. It was hard to stop the fast break, we were having a difficult time getting points ourselves and having to work on every possession was a bad mix.”

Hornets Forward David West
On the Nets game plan:
“They ran and were too athletic on the wing. We couldn’t guard them out front at all. Terrence Williams was just too much in terms of when he was on the court he changed the game. He was a bad match up for us. We were never able to get then under control.”

On the Hornets' effort under the circumstances:
“Coming off the back to back we wanted to give a better effort than what we gave. They’ve been playing loose all year. They just were better than us.”

Hornets Guard Chris Paul
On the Nets game plan:
“They made a lot of shots. Yi did a good job knocking down shots and Terrence Williams hurt us. It was an all around good game for them."

On the reason for the loss:
"I don’t know. We just couldn’t execute and make shots. That’s why we lost."

On the team:
With any team when someone goes down with an injury for a long time it’s going to be an adjustment. We played strong but it’s always tough. It was tough watching because you have to come back and get your rhythm.

Nets Post Game Quotes

Interim Head Coach Kiki Vandeweghe
On Terrence Williams:
“Terrence was terrific tonight. We had five guys on the bench in double figures, Terrence had 14 assists and Kris Humphries had 12 rebounds. It was a real team effort and what I was most proud of was that the starters came out and really supported the bench guys. They were cheering with their teammates and we got really aggressive on the defensive end. I think that really changed the game for us."

Why does Terrence still come off the bench?
“I think the rotation is really good the way it is. I think he’s very comfortable. I want to make sure that his progress keeps going up. He’s really going in the right direction. When Devin comes out, I like him as our ball handler, he’s excellent. He’s playing the bulk of minutes anyways. So to me it’s not that he comes off the bench but that he finishes the game.”

On the progress of this year:
“I think the team has been playing better, harder, and more aggressive. We’ve really talked about a lot of things as a purpose for this year and the development of our young players is something that we really keyed on. We want to win games and we understood it would be a tough year, but with the development of the young players, we really thought that we’d eventually win games and the team would come together. I think you see the development of Terrence Williams, Brook, CDR, Courtney, and even Devin. Devin has really returned to the form that he once was. I am really proud of these guys.”

Nets Guard Devin Harris
On being able to watch the win from the bench:
“It was great. The other guys really played well tonight. We got off to a good start. The bench really took it to another level and it was good to see. T-Will was out there with his Matrix making plays, passes, and scoring. Keyon played well tonight and everyone pretty much played well tonight. Everyone did their job. But defensively, they really got after it.”

On the alley-oop:
“Not really. I expected him to catch it, but not all in one motion. He’s freakish athletically and I know for future references what I can do. He’s definitely playing extremely well right now and we got out into transition. Everyone was running the floor and it’s good to see.”

Nets Guard-Forward Terrence Williams
On the bench support:
“I see it, especially me. Every time I make a pass, I look over there and I definitely see them. It’s easier for a bench to play when you have the support.”

On the light coming on:
“The light is on right now. I would say so. It was time to grow up. I’m in the NBA now, I’m not in high school, and I’m not in college. It was time for me to take responsibility for myself and for my actions and why I was playing the way I was. I thank Kiki for giving me the opportunity to play and for sitting me down to give me discipline and to learn. If I was just sitting out there playing 30 minutes a game and shooting 3 for 19, I would not be getting better. I appreciate what he did for sitting me down and letting me watch.”
