| Monday, March 29, 2010 Final Score: New Orleans 108, Los Angeles 100 Hornets Post Game Quotes
On the Hornets playing an aggressive game: “All the players were outstanding tonight. Being a team like that, we were aggressive and came out good early. Our defense put us in a position to push the ball and each player deserves credit for their effort.” On playing against Kobe Bryant: “We have seen Kobe make so many game-winning shots, so many tie-breaking shots that we wanted to give ourselves enough cushion to avoid that drama. We were pretty active and had a pretty clear understanding of what the threat was to us, especially defensively. That fact the Kobe only scored 10 points in the first half was a relief. Our plays were really effective, providing us with scoring and providing us with spacing. Our ability to keep points coming had a great effect on the outcome of the game and we had great plays across the board.”
On the team’s first half defense: “Thornton did a great job on Kobe early in the first quarter. He was making sure that some of his catches were tough before he allowed him to get into his shot. We were sending guys at him so I think that threw him off his game a little bit.” On the team's effort: “I think that we came out real aggressive. We are just going out there and competing and we know that the teams we are playing right now have something to still play for. We are going to just keep competing.”
On the game: “It was a great team effort tonight but we need to be able to bring this kind of effort night in and night out.” On the difference in the game: “Well we made some shots tonight and that always helps. When we are able to get out in transition that’s when we are at our best and we defended much better. We played well on both sides of the ball tonight.” Lakers Post Game Quotes
On the game: “I told the guys I didn’t like the first half, obviously, the bench couldn’t get things going in the second quarter and they got a distant lead. We came back right after the start of the third quarter but we couldn’t sustain. They picked it up a little bit, got some blocked shots and created some turnovers and got a little advantage there after we got back in the ballgame. They just stepped up to a level that we didn’t reach.” On Kobe Bryant: “He was getting double and triple-teamed, and he was getting the ball out to guys for shots and we just didn’t shoot the two-point shot well at all. We had a couple here and a couple there. We weren’t consistent at all.” On the trouble with three-pointers: “It’s all well and good to get the ball swung, but if you are not making the three you have to go back inside and you have to penetrate off the dribble. That was the message. And there are nights you are not going to shoot the three-ball well so that was it.”
On the game: “When we don’t play defense, and do the intangibles, as far as basketball is concerned, it’s unacceptable. Especially when you’ve got a team trying to do their best against you. You’ve got to play defense, communication is lacking, the chemistry for some reason is not clicking. If we don’t do the intangibles, we need to depend on our shooting to win games, and we’re not always going to shoot well.”
On the game: “We just need to be a little bit more active defensively, we need to cover each other’s back a little more, we need to scramble and bring that energy to the defensive end. Then we can get stops and play better offense. We got some good looks offensively, most of the time we would knock those down, but tonight they didn’t really fall. They shot the ball a lot better than we did.” |
