Hornets Post Game Quotes

Head Coach Jeff Bower
On the Hornets play tonight:
“We kept it close and played well in the first two quarters. Then they began to chip away. We missed some key shots and had a few turnovers that really hurt us. They got the momentum going in the fourth quarter and it was more than we could overcome. We just have to re-group and get ready for Portland.”

On the play of LeBron James:
“He’s got size, speed, length, quickness, athleticism and intellect. He’s the total package. That’s what makes him so difficult to play.”

Hornets Forward David West
On the loss:
“They (Cleveland) just picked us apart defensively. I think LeBron (James) was able to get himself going and getting other guys (involved). When they’re doing that, it’s tough to beat them.”

“We just couldn’t put enough together…..They have a lot of talent on that basketball team. They’ve got a lot of guys who can make plays for them. They’re always in the right spot. Even when we scored, we just didn’t feel like we had enough continuity defensively to keep them out of the game.”

Hornets Guard Chris Paul
On where the Cavs hurt the Hornets the most tonight:
“Probably in the paint, with the pick and roll…Guys were picking and rolling to the basket…We just have to keep playing. It’s a good team that we lost to.”

On how he feels:
“I have to get back into the flow and understand what we’re trying to do. Hopefully, that will come sooner rather than later.”

“I was pretty comfortable tonight. The biggest thing is that my knee feels fine. I just have to understand the flow of our offense and what we’re trying to get (done). I think that’s the biggest thing. We’ll get ready for Portland.”

Cavaliers Post Game Quotes

Head Coach Mike Brown
On the game:
“Good win by us coming in here especially after New Orleans beat Dallas the way they did. I thought we had some very good possessions offensively and moving the ball, moving bodies. Our spacing was good at times, we had multiple ball reversals at times. We had multiple driving kicks at times offensively at times and that is always a positive. Defensively, for most of the night I thought we were okay. We had some trouble getting after some long rebounds, some fifty-fifty balls, which allowed them to get out and run into transition. But as the game went along our defense had tightened up. At half court I thought our defense was good, for the entire game. We had a lot of good performances, obviously, Bron with his 38, on 15 of 22 from the field was terrific. Antawn 11 boards, JJ’s 20 and 9. And then we continue to get production off the bench, whether it is defensively, offensively or rebounding.”

Cavaliers Forward J.J. Hickson
On Zydrunas Ilgauskas’ return:
“I told coach I’m going to do whatever to help the team win. If I have to fight for minutes, I’m going to make the coach’s job as hard as I can.”

On his improvement:
“I feel I’ve improved a lot. I’m playing defense better and I’m doing more on offense than just catching the ball and going up. I learned a lot last year on the bench, and worked with Chris Jent on my footwork because you can’t out jump everyone in the NBA. I learned you have to take what the defense gives you."

Cavaliers Forward LeBron James
On Zydrunas Ilgauskas’ return:
“Z knows the system, being out a month is a long time and to get back out on the court was good. This is the best system for him and he’s going to get to the point where he need him.”

On his shooting performance:
“They did a good job, they had a guy in front of me but I was able to get comfortable. I took some difficult shots and made them and got into a flow where I felt I could make any shot on the court.”
