| Wednesday, January 27, 2010 Final Score: New Orleans 123, Golden State 110 Hornets Post Game Quotes
On the game: “We had a few spurts in the game. The game actually started with a spurt and we wanted to get focused and start climbing that wall. We expected this to be a game of runs. There were plenty of scoring batches, but we knew that we could run with them. We had a lot of turnovers in the game and we had a lot of shots that went in and out of the rim and that just goes to show that we had a lot of opportunities in this game.” “They can score with the best of them. We knew that we would have to be mentally prepared especially at the end of a road trip, and that’s where some of the turnovers came from. I’m happy with the road trip as we were able to win three out of four games. It’s another step for us. We know how difficult it will be trying to get into the playoff chase and stay there, but we have to stay focused and continue to work hard.”
“We went away from what we like to do. That fourth quarter is something we will have to talk about tomorrow -but to have a lead like the one we had tonight, we can’t let teams get back into the game. It was just one of those games. When you play the Warriors you get an opportunity to get up and down and get into transition. They never drop the ball in the paint and you will get a few more possessions because they like to run and gun.” “Golden State is a team that likes to score. If they get a lead on you, you will have opportunities to get back into the game, and if you get a lead on them they will have opportunities to get back into the game as well. I watch this team a lot, and Monta Ellis is one of my favorite players in the League to watch. Luckily, tonight we were able to hit more shots.” Warriors Post Game Quotes
“Well I thought we played a little bit better than we did tonight. I was pretty surprised even though it was a back to back game. With Monta back I thought we would play with a lot of energy, just not a very good performance by us or a good effort. We had no answer for Chris Paul. He was unbelievable. We blitzed him every time and he goes for 38 points and 9 assists.”
On coming back from injury: “It was good, felt great, it would’ve been even greater if we could have got a win…played better than we did.” On getting back into form: “It isn’t tough at all, just missed a couple days that’s it. If I missed like five or ten games it would’ve been tough, but like I said I felt good out there. Everything felt normal to me, just had a bad night.” On Chris Paul’s night: “Not much you can say, stats speak for themselves. It was his night, he was on, he was hitting everything he was getting to the basket… nothing more you can say.”
On Chris Paul: “Played great, really besides the turnovers he didn’t do anything wrong out there. He controlled the game, made plays, got his teammates involved and singlehandedly kind of took us out of it at the start of the game. That’s why he’s one of the best point guards in the world.“ On getting Monta Ellis back: “As a team our energy was kind of low today, coming off the back-to back and being limited in numbers and he brought some energy early we just couldn’t sustain it long enough to make this game anywhere near competitive. But we definitely…glad he’s back on the court and hopefully we can make strides and get our chemistry back with him on the floor.” |
