NBA2K Hornets Preview at San Antonio - 01/07/17

Key Matchup vs. San Antonio Spurs: Marvin Williams vs. LaMarcus Aldridge

By Sam Perley, hornets.com

A five-game road stretch continues for the Charlotte Hornets as they head south to take on the San Antonio Spurs on Saturday night for the second time this season. Forward Marvin Williams is slowly rounding into form this year, averaging 11.8 points, 4.4 rebounds, 1.4 assists and 1.2 blocks over his last five games for the Hornets. The 12th-year veteran is also coming off a season-high-tying 19-point performance in the team’s 115-114 road loss to the Detroit Pistons on Jan. 5.

Williams should spend much of his time in San Antonio shadowing 6’11” LaMarcus Aldridge, who remains a huge physical force in his second year with the Spurs. Having garnered NBA All-Star honors every season since 2011, Aldridge is putting up 22.6 points on 69.7 percent shooting, 7.8 rebounds, 2.4 assists, and 1.4 blocks in his last five appearances for the Spurs.

With the Hornets having lost nine-consecutive road games in San Antonio, look for the matchup between a pair of former number two overall picks in Marvin Williams and LaMarcus Aldridge to be a potential deciding factor if Charlotte wants to end its losing streak at AT&T Center on Saturday night.
