MKG Donates to Samaritan's Feet

August 9, 2014 – Samaritan’s Feet International and AAA Insurance hosted a “Back to School” shoe distribution event on August 9 to equip and encourage students before the new school year. Approximately 225 pre-registered children received a new pair of new shoes and socks and had their feet washed by community volunteers along with receiving a sack-pack with school supplies.

Prior to the distribution, Charlotte Hornets forward and Samaritan’s Feet NBA ambassador Michael Kidd-Gilchrist donated 25 pairs of new shoes to Samaritan’s Feet in honor of the team’s 25 home wins last season.

This event is one of over 60 Back to School shoe distributions being held across the United States this year giving away over 30,000 pairs of shoes and sack packs.

“This is an opportunity for the community to serve their neighbors. It’s a time to work together to encourage, spread hope and meet an immediate need through the gift of shoes and school supplies,” Manny Ohonme, CEO and Co-Founder of Samaritan’s Feet International, said.

The Back to School program provides a framework for community collaboration to prepare students materially, physically and spiritually for the school year. The Office Depot Foundation donated the sack packs with school supplies, including pencils, erasers and crayons for all Back to School events.
