Mercedes-Benz to be Presenting Partner of Team’s Transition from Bobcats to Hornets
November 20, 2013
The Charlotte Bobcats announced today that Mercedes-Benz will serve as the presenting partner of the team’s Buzz City campaign. The Buzz City platform consists of the transition events, games and overall theme as the Bobcats re-brand to the Charlotte Hornets starting with the 2014-15 NBA season. The Bobcats partnership with Mercedes-Benz is a multi-year agreement.
“We are thrilled to be partnering with a world-class company such as Mercedes-Benz on our Buzz City campaign,” said Bobcats President & COO Fred Whitfield. “There is a tremendous amount of excitement from our fans surrounding the Hornets re-brand, and coupled with the direction of our basketball team, this will be an exciting calendar year for basketball fans throughout the Carolinas. We are thrilled to welcome Mercedes-Benz to our partnership family.”
As part of the presenting partnership for the Buzz City campaign driven by Mercedes-Benz, the automobile maker will receive significant exposure at all five of the team’s Buzz City Nights during the course of the 2013-14 NBA season. Mercedes-Benz will serve as the title sponsor of the first Buzz City Night on Dec. 21 vs. Utah, and sponsor a Mercedes-Benz branded Buzz City long-sleeve T-shirt giveaway. The additional Buzz City nights will be Jan. 25 vs. Chicago, Feb. 8 vs. San Antonio, March 22 vs. Portland and April 16 vs. Chicago. These nights will contain exclusive Buzz City fan giveaways and in-arena activations that celebrate the history of Hornets basketball in the Carolinas.
Additionally, Mercedes-Benz will receive logo recognition and have a significant brand presence at all of the Buzz City events during the upcoming calendar year as the team re-brands back to the Charlotte Hornets. These events will include the unveiling of the new uniform, mascot and court design.
“The Mercedes-Benz Charlotte dealers could not be more excited to partner with the Bobcats as this exciting team transitions to the beloved Charlotte Hornets once again,” said Rob Teitelbaum, Mercedes-Benz Southern Region Area Manager. ”We are looking forward to rallying basketball fans across the Carolinas at the Buzz City events, celebrating a sport we all love and a team we support locally.”
Along with the Buzz City campaign, the partnership with Mercedes-Benz has a multi-platform presence, with some of the elements to include the following: logo recognition on Buzz City website and throughout various media elements of the Buzz City campaign (TV, radio, print, digital), pre-roll for video on Bobcats.com, LED signage (courtside, scoreboard, ribbon-board), basket pole pad signage and promotional contests.
