Scott Lauer is the radio play-by-play voice of the Charlotte Bobcats. His column will appear on bobcats.com on Thursdays throughout the season. The opinions expressed here are his own and do not necessarily reflect the views of the Bobcats organization.

We're in Atlanta today, getting set for the 7:30 p.m. game tonight against the Hawks, and the story line is clearly going to revolve around the play of the Bobcats bigs - including Bismack Biyombo, Byron Mullens, Michael Kidd-Gilchrist (sometimes at power forward) and Brendan Haywood. The reason that I identify the 4 and 5 positions is because the Hawks have had a Memphis Grizzlies-like dominant front line. Led by Josh Smith and Al Horford, Atlanta takes a (13-6) record into tonight's game, coming off a win in Orlando last night. In the last five games, Smith is averaging 20 points and 12 rebounds, while Horford is producing 18 points and 13 boards.

Bismack Biyombo will log plenty of minutes against them, and the 20 year old was active last night against the Clippers, scoring 11 points with eight rebounds and earning a pair of first half steals. He met Blake Griffin head-to-head numerous times and held his own. There were a couple of plays where Griffin's ridiculous athleticism beat Biyombo, but it wasn't because of a lack of effort or positioning.

Charlotte nearly won here just over two weeks ago, making Atlanta sweat late, as Ben Gordon dropped a then franchise-record-tying seven 3's on them. The Hawks however did move to 2-0 against the Bobcats this season.

I anticipate MKG having a strong game. He may have Anthony Morrow defending him to start the game, and that could prove to be a winning matchup for the Bobcats, particularly if Kidd-Gilchrist gravitates toward his newfound post game.

All of the action will of course be broadcast on Fox Sports South and WFNZ 610am in Charlotte.
