Honeybees Spotlight: Lynn
By: Hornets.com | September 6, 2011

Hometown: New Orleans.
Year as a Honeybee: First.

Previous dance experience:

I have been dancing since I was 2! I have attended numerous dance studios around the city, but most of my talent and drive comes from The Metropolitan Dance Theater! There, I truly found that my love for dance wasn't just in the moves, but in the performance aspect as well. I love being in front of an audience, so along with dance I became involved in a few of the theatrical programs throughout the city and was a background dancer in numerous plays during high school. Along with dancing for the Honeybees, I also take multiple dance classes as a part of my minor in college.

What I love about being a Honeybee:

I love this city of New Orleans, and being able to represent my city through dance is an experience of a lifetime! I now work with an amazing group of girls who are extremely talented and loving and hard-working. It's hard to find such an inspirational group to represent the team that New Orleans prides itself on, and these girls nail it! I am so honored to be a part of this team and to be able to be a role model to the New Orleans community!

What I love about dancing:

Dancing has always been the thing I love to do the most! Through dance, you can express every emotion by just losing yourself in the moves and the music. If you're having a bad day, breaking out in some dance moves can really brighten you up. It's such an exhilarating feeling after you've sweat your heart out on the dance floor. When there's nothing left, dance!

What I love about New Orleans:

I was born and raised in New Orleans, in the same house, on the same street! There is nothing about that I would change. The hospitality and kindness of everyone in the city is unlike anywhere else! After taking a long vacation away from home, it will always put the biggest smile on my face to come back home to the comfort of this amazing city. The fact that any time of the week you can find something different and fun to do with either the constant live music or delicious food options makes New Orleans the most diverse and unique place I have ever been blessed to be in. I couldn’t be more proud to call this place my true home!

What I love to do when I’m not performing with the Honeybees:

When I’m not performing with the Honeybees I am very busy doing so many other things! I am a junior in college and am working very hard to one day get into Physical Therapy school. I also have another job where I promote for Winter Circle Productions, which is an incredible music production company in New Orleans. I attend as many live concerts as I can because I cannot get enough of the music scene! Especially this past year, I have been putting more effort into traveling around the country in order to expand my experiences. I love visiting new places and getting to see how other parts of the world work. But when it all comes down to it, my love for dancing and performing with the Honeybees is what keeps me grounded. You don't live forever, so the only thing to do is to constantly do what makes you happy and that’s exactly what I'm doing!
