In a league fraught with injuries in the early going, the Cats have not been the exception and have been hit hard as of late. With big men Bismack Biyombo (sprained right ankle) and Brendan Haywood (left foot stress fracture) already on the shelf, Charlotte got some bad news when Michael Kidd-Gilchrist fractured his left hand on Dec. 3 in Dallas and will miss four to six weeks of action. Jeffery Taylor stepped in admirably against Philadelphia on Dec. 6, scoring a career-high-tying 20 points, grabbing a career-high-tying eight rebounds, handing out one assist, swiping one steal and blocking one shot in a season-high 37 minutes. However, it came at a cost for the Cats as Taylor will miss at least the Dec. 9 game against Golden State with a left heel contusion.

So what does this mean for your fantasy team? Well if you’re in the 10 percent of leagues where Gerald Henderson is not owned yet, or you’ve been storing him on your bench, now’s the time to get him in your starting lineup. With injuries on the wings to two key players, Henderson could see his minutes go up as he spends some time at his starting shooting guard spot, but he can also expect to get some run at the three. In fantasy basketball, more minutes usually converts to better numbers, and Henderson owners would love to see him putting up those stats on a regular basis.

Henderson scored 18 points in Friday’s 105-88 victory over Philadelphia, giving him 11-straight double-digit scoring performances and 18 total for the season. Over the last 17 games, Hendo is averaging 15.7 points, 5.1 rebounds and 2.8 assists while shooting 42 percent from the field and 80 percent from the free-throw line. That’s up from his first three games, in which he averaged 9.3 points, 2.7 rebounds and 1.3 assists. Now, increase his playing time even more, and his numbers won’t have him available in many leagues for long.

Hopefully Henderson is well rested heading into this four-game set this week with home games against Steph Curry and Golden State at 7 p.m. on Monday, Victor Oladipo and Orlando at 7 p.m. on Wednesday and the returning Kobe Bryant and the L.A. Lakers at 7 p.m. on Saturday. Toss in a Friday road game at 7 p.m. against Paul George and the Pacers in Indianapolis and the Cats and Hendo will definitely get their work in. So if he’s out there in your league, don’t let him stay available any longer as he could help you out here in December.
