The Result
The short-handed Hornets couldn’t hang with the visiting Pistons, who snapped a three-game losing streak against Charlotte with a 106-78 victory on Tuesday, Feb. 10 at Time Warner Cable Arena. Charlotte will enter the All-Star Break on a three-game losing streak as they were once again without top defender, Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, who remains sidelined with a strained right hamstring. Gerald Henderson led the Hornets with 17 points while Greg Monroe finished with 23 points to lead Detroit.  

Turning Points
The Hornets lost control of a 46-46 game at the 1:46 mark of the second quarter as the Pistons went on an 8-0 run to enter halftime with a 54-46 lead over Charlotte. The momentum carried over into the second half for Detroit as they outscored Charlotte, 29-14, in the third quarter to extend its lead to 23 points as the Pistons cruised to an easy win and snapped a five-game road-losing streak.   

Inside the Box Score
With 17 points, Gerald Henderson has now scored in double figures in 20 of his last 27 games… Al Jefferson finished with 13 points and a team-high 10 rebounds for his 15th double-double of the season… Jefferson also led the Hornets with four blocks… Jeff Taylor scored a season-high 12 points in his second-consecutive start… Cody Zeller finished with eight points and seven rebounds… Brian Roberts and Henderson each dished out a team-high five assists…After recording a team-high 23 points and 12 rebounds, Greg Monroe is now tied for 11th in the NBA with 25 double-doubles… D.J. Augustin and Jodie Meeks each finished with 18 points while Anthony Tolliver (16) and Andre Drummond (14) also finished in double figures for the Pistons… Drummond finished just shy of a double-double pulling down nine rebounds… Augustin recorded a team-high five assists… Charlotte was 8-of-11 from 3-point range in the first half, but went just 1-of-13 after halftime… Detroit outrebounded Charlotte, 48-38… The Pistons also connected on 27-of-30 free throws while Charlotte made 11-of-14 attempts from the line… The Hornets were outscored in the second half, 52-32. 

Hornets Player of the Game
P.J. Hairston came off the bench to score a career-high 16 points, which included a career-high four 3-pointers. Hairston finished in double figures for the seventh time this season and for the first time since Jan. 19. 

Pistons Player of the Game
Greg Monroe was unstoppable in the paint for Detroit finishing with 23 points and 12 rebounds for his 25th double-double of the season. Since the 2011-12 season, Monroe has recorded at least 20 points and 10 rebounds an NBA-leading 48 times. 

Game Notes
Charlotte traded Gary Neal and a second-round draft pick to the Minnesota Timberwolves in exchange for Mo Williams and Troy Daniels earlier in the day… After winning a season-high five-straight home games from Jan. 17- Feb. 5, the Hornets have now dropped two straight in Charlotte…With the loss, the Hornets fall to eighth in the Eastern Conference.
