CHILDREN’S THEATRE OF CHARLOTTE

On Wednesday night, the Children’s Theatre of Charlotte partnered with the Charlotte Hornets at its Community Corner during the Phoenix Suns game. The Children’s Theatre of Charlotte has grown to become one of the top theatre and education organizations for young people in the United States. The organization is nationally recognized for the breadth and strength of its programs, serving 300,000 children and families a year with technically imaginative productions and a wide-range of education programs for youth. The Children’s Theatre of Charlotte’s volunteers utilized the Community Corner to educate Hornets fans about its programs, productions and events. MOTHERING ACROSS CONTINENTS

The Charlotte Hornets will partner with Mothering Across Continents during tomorrow’s game against the Brooklyn Nets. Mothering Across Continents has coached and mentored volunteers to develop dream education projects for orphans and vulnerable children in the United States, Rwanda, South Africa, South Sudan, Liberia, Tanzania, Thailand, Mexico and Haiti. In the United States, its Global Class and Any1Can projects combine global education and service training for teachers and students in high schools and middle schools.

At the Hornets Community Corner, Mothering Across Continents will feature Myers Park High School’s Any1Can Club members who will invite Hornets fans to participate in the Memes for Peace Project. This postcard signing project supports education and peace in South Sudan, the world’s newest country. Original student artwork was used for the postcards and will be on display during the game. All signed postcards will be mailed to public officials in Washington, D.C. Hornets fans will also have the chance to purchase raffle tickets for a gift basket of holiday treats.  Proceeds from the raffle will benefit the Raising South Sudan education project.
