The Charlotte Bobcats teamed up with Novant Health and Hickory Tavern to host Novant Health Blume Night on Feb. 8 at Time Warner Cable Arena.
To start the evening, children from the Novant Health Blume Pediatric Hematology/Oncology ward and their families were escorted from the Presbyterian Blume Center via limo to Hickory Tavern for a pregame dinner. From there, the children and their families arrived at Time Warner Cable Arena where Rufus and the Lady Cats welcomed them.
The participants were able to watch the Bobcats take on the San Antonio Spurs from a luxury suite supplied with snacks and drinks. The guests each received a Cats Care fan pack and were treated to items from the dessert cart. During the game, the group saw visits from Rufus, the Lady Cats and Bobcats President Fred Whitfield.
Child Life Specialist Angela Miller was thankful for the Bobcats ability to host the event and create a fun environment for the children for the night.
“The children here are adolescents and young adults who either have a blood disorder or are being treated for cancer,” said Miller. “It’s good for these kids to get away from the treatments they’re receiving and have a fun night out being normal teenagers and young adults.”
