The Charlotte Bobcats and Wells Fargo today announced the two organizations will partner to provide 1,000 Thanksgiving meals to low-income families in the annual Cats Care Cornucopia event on Tuesday, November 26 at 9:00 AM. Each meal contains enough food to feed a family of four, resulting in approximately 4,000 people being served.
Every meal includes turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, a variety of vegetables, cranberry sauce, and a two-liter bottle of Sprite. Bobcats partner Coca-Cola is providing the drinks, while Food Lion is donating the thousands of pounds of food needed to make this event possible.
“As an organization, we have continued to place a high emphasis on giving back, and we are proud to bring Wells Fargo, Coca-Cola and Food Lion together for our third annual Cats Care Cornucopia event,” Bobcats Sports & Entertainment President & COO Fred Whitfield said. “In this season of giving, the Cats Care Cornucopia allows us the opportunity to give back to those who are less fortunate. By providing meals to those in need, the Bobcats, in collaboration with our partners, are able to tackle hunger in our community, which is one of the biggest issues in Charlotte today.”
The entire Bobcats team and coaching staff, along with Whitfield and President of Basketball Operations Rod Higgins, will be teaming up with Wells Fargo, Food Lion and Coca-Cola executives to distribute food at Time Warner Cable Arena.
“Wells Fargo is proud to partner with the Bobcats to give back to the Charlotte community,” said Kendall Alley, Wells Fargo Community Banking regional president for Charlotte. “This connects directly with the vision and values of our company. Our goal is to help build strong and vibrant communities, improve the quality of life, and make a positive difference. If our local communities prosper, we all prosper.”
