Are You Ready For Some Basketball?

OK. I know we are 55 days away from 2012-13 NBA Opening Night, but with the NFL kicking off its season Wednesday with the Giants-Cowboys opener, I couldn't help but get excited for the October 30 NBA games.

That's right, HOOP fans.

We are ready for some basketball! Right now!

Heat-Celtics Lakers-Mavs Cavs-Wizards.

These are the games that lead the NBA slate this upcoming season. And even though, tonight is all about football, I cannot help but daydream about basketball's premiere evening.

The contest that will be the official season opener is the Washington at Cleveland game that features the No. 1 picks from the 2010 and 2011 NBA Drafts--Wizard John Wall and Cav Kyrie Irving, who should be fully recovered from his broken right-hand injury this summer.

The game that gets the big TNT opening-night spotlight is the Boston at Miami game where LeBron James and his Heat teammates get their championship rings and get to have a real arena celebration at its proper time.

Then the showcase that will get everybody buzzing is the Dallas at Los Angeles game where Dwight Howard and Steve Nash make their Laker debuts on the TNT late-night telecast.

Ernie, Charles, Kenny and Shaq in Studio J for "Inside The NBA" Irving and Wall battling for "Who's Got Next?" rights as a Top 10 PG Practically the whole Heat roster intact a year later to claim their 2011-12 rings The new-and-improved Celtics, who get younger (newcomers) as they get older (vets) Mark Cuban's budget-conscious Mavs who set themselves up nicely fiscally, while loading their squad with bang-for-budget veterans And the big-spending Lakers who have put together a starting lineup of players who have already taken part in 33 All-Star Games.

No doubt, football owns the night tonight.

But as for my daydreams, I've got visions of King James, KG, Superman and Nashty dancing in my head already.

Not one, not two, but three great games.

Can't wait!
