KD V Unveiled

Nike unveiled the KD V today, Kevin Durant's fifth signature shoe.

Designed again by Leo Chang, Nike Basketball footwear design director (he's the architect behind the KD line since its inception), the inspiration behind the KD V is the concept of 5: five players united on the court, the five sides of the Pentagon (A Washington, DC landmark, where Durant hails from), the five points of a star and the fifth shoe in his KD series. Other little hidden details of the shoe include names of his family members, his three scoring titles and area codes of his basketball stops (Maryland, Texas, Seattle and Oklahoma City) can be found throughout.

From a performance standpoint, the KD V introduces Nike Air in the heel, a first for the KD line. Forefoot cushioning is comprised of a thicker Nike Zoom. The body of the shoe is a unibody Hyperfused upper that is integrated with the lacing system. The midsole of the KD V wraps around into the rear, forming a heel counter for a clean look.

The KD V launches globally on NIKEiD on November 6, then is fully available beginning December 8 in both the Bright Crimson colorway and Black/blue colorway.
