Call Out
DeWanna Bonner
The Mercury levels are rising in the desert and we're not talking just about temperatures. The Phoenix Mercury currently sit atop the WNBA's Western Conference standings, a year after finishing 7th. With Diana Taurasi and Cappie Pondexter doing their thing as usual, rookie DeWanna Bonner is proving to be the missing spark needed to get the Mercury back on top of their game. The Auburn alum is averaging 11.5 ppg and 6.1 rpg as a reserve and seems a lock for the Rookie of the Year Award—the 6th Woman of the Year Award is also not out of reach. With Penny Taylor back in purple and orange, the Mercury look to only get stronger down the stretch, and the play of Bonner—proving she can fill in major minutes for the starters without missing a beat—will be key for a title run. |
