Frustrated from years of postseason eliminations in Minnesota, Kevin Garnett got a fresh start with a trade to the Boston Celtics prior to the 2007-08 NBA season. Joining him was the sharpshooting Ray Allen (acquired from Seattle in a trade).
Many wondered whether these two stars could co-exist with Celtics incumbent Paul Pierce, but Boston quickly put those thoughts to bed with a fast start and a top seed in the Eastern Conference.
Battled by the Hawks and Cavs to a seven-game series, the Celtics advanced to the NBA Finals to face an old nemesis, the Los Angeles Lakers.
But MVP Kobe Bryant and the Lakers were no match for a hungry Celtics bunch, who locked up their 17th championship and secured the legacy of Garnett, Allen and Pierce.
