Legends, Great Teams, Retro Jerseys highlight recognition
NBA Hardwood Classic Nights Celebrate History
NEW YORK, Feb. 13 -- Eight NBA teams will celebrate their history as part of a new NBA initiative called Hardwood Classics Nights starting this Sunday. During the second half of the NBA regular season, each of the eight teams will recognize a significant player, team or milestone in its history that will include an in-arena ceremony, NBA legend participation and the teams wearing retro jerseys during the game.
Sunday, Feb. 16 -- Sacramento Kings
Thursday, Feb. 20 -- New Jersey Nets
Wednesday, Feb. 26 - Milwaukee Bucks
Friday, March 14 - Philadelphia 76ers
Monday, March 24 - Phoenix Suns
Wednesday, March 26 - Denver Nuggets
Sunday, April 6 - Houston Rockets
Wednesday, April 9 - Washington Wizards
"The NBA has a rich heritage and it is important to honor the players and teams that helped lay the foundation for what the NBA has become today," said Tim Andree, Senior Vice President of NBA Communications. "The retro theme of NBA All-Star 2003 is being extended to the Hardwood Classics Nights where we will celebrate the teams and players that are now NBA legends."
Reebok and Nike will support the Hardwood Classics Nights with jerseys and other related merchandise that will be available at The NBA Store on Fifth Avenue in New York City, at The NBA Store on NBA.com and at sports specialty retailers across the country.
