NBA Decade
NBA Decade: The '90s index
Due primarily to the defense-oriented mid-to-late 90's, the top five single-season scoring teams all came in the first three years of the decade. Denver captured the highest total with their 119.9 ppg in 1990-91. However, high scoring did not pave the way to success for the Nuggets, as they posted a 20-62 record that season, which was the worst record in the league. Golden State, led by the early 90's trio known as "Run TMC" (Tim Hardaway, Mitch Richmond and Chris Mullin) claimed three of the best five scoring seasons of the decade.
