Los Angeles, California
MVP: Bill Russell, Boston

Franchise shifts had put Wilt Chamberlain in San Francisco and consequently on the West team, setting up the initial head-to-head All-Star Game confrontation between Chamberlain and Bill Russell of the Boston Celtics. When the buzzer sounded in Los Angeles, the East had beaten the West, 115-108, and Russell had outscored Chamberlain, 19-17, and had outrebounded him, 24-19.

Russell was one of six East players to score in double figures. Cincinnati's third-year guard Oscar Robertson led the East squad with 21 points. The West's Bob Pettit led all scorers with 25 points.
