Stand Up for Winners of AmericanAirlines Arena Sit In Contest

MIAMI, FL (December 5, 2009) – On December 4, 2009, AmericanAirlines Arena hosted the 10th Anniversary Sit In Contest which gave participants a chance to win FREE tickets to EVERY event that will be hosted at AmericanAirlines Arena during its 10th Anniversary year—beginning with the Phish concert on December 31, 2009 and ending on December 31, 2010.  A total of 40 teams participated in the contest which was anticipated to take 24 hours.

The AmericanAirlines Arena 10th Anniversary Sit-In contest ended at approximately 1:00 a.m. on December 5th. Over 30 teams completed the contest by sitting in every seat in the arena, necessitating a trivia contest to determine the overall winner. The trivia question was “What is the total number of tickets sold for every event that has ever taken place at the AmericanAirlines Arena since its opening on December 31, 1999?”  The correct answer is 11,106,471.  The winner would be the team that came closest to the correct answer, regardless of whether their guess was over or under the actual number.

The winning team was Team #5 - Three Fit Guys, comprised of Peter Marrero of Coral Gables, Manny Gonzalez of Davie and Eddie Artze of Doral.  Their answer was 11,200,000.  The winners will receive a total of four (4) tickets to every event that comes to the AmericanAirlines Arena starting with the Phish concert on December 31, 2009 through December 31, 2010.  Each member of the remaining teams that completed the contest but did not win the Grand Prize will receive a six-game All You Can HEAT partial ticket plan for the Miami HEAT for the 2009-10 season.

On December 31st, the AmericanAirlines Arena will officially celebrate 10 years of award-winning performances, guest service and renowned fan experience in South Florida. As Miami’s most notable catalyst for downtown growth and revitalization, the Arena is widely recognized for its many “best practices” throughout the sports and entertainment industry as well as the leading venue for Miami’s vibrant and eclectic community.

AmericanAirlines Arena opened its doors on December 31, 1999 and has been the ongoing inspiration for downtown Miami’s development. Today it sits among a thriving urban community lined with luxury condominiums and will soon neighbor the city’s first and much anticipated Museum Park.
