MIAMI, May 15 Tuesday, May 16, has been designated White Hot HEAT Day by both the Miami-Dade County Public Schools and Broward County Public Schools. All students, teachers and administrators are encouraged to wear white to support the HEAT during the 2006 NBA Playoffs.
To recognize White Hot HEAT Day, Wali Jones, HEAT Community Affairs Liaison, Burnie, the Xtreme Team and the Most Popular Dance Team in the NBA, the HEAT Dancers, will entertain students from Panther Run Elementary at 9:00 a.m. and Shadowlawn Elementary at 11:00 a.m. Each school will have a pep rally to support the HEAT as they look to close out the New Jersey Nets in Game Five of the Eastern Conference Semifinals later that night and to reward the students for a productive school year.
The HEAT and players like Shaquille ONeal and Alonzo Mourning have been supportive of our efforts to improve the education and the lives of children across Miami-Dade County, said Rudolph F. Crew, Superintendent of Miami-Dade County Public Schools. We are happy to be able to return the favor during the teams run to the NBA championship and hope that the support of our 357,000 students and 50,000 employees help them get to the top.
