Miami HEAT Front Office Receives National Accolades

Official HEAT Web Site and Retail Department Recognized

MIAMI, Feb. 11 — The HEAT is proud to announce that two facets of the HEAT Group’s Business Operations have been honored for being the best in its divisions., the team’s official Web site, and the HEAT’s Retail Operations Department, responsible for the buying and selling of all HEAT merchandise in the AmericanAirlines Arena and on, have been presented separate awards.

The HEAT’s official Web site,, recently has been recognized by Street and Smith’s Sports Business Journal (SBJ) as the best professional sports team Internet Web site out of 131 team sites (including NBA, NFL, MLB, NHL and MLS) in the design/technical category. The rankings, conducted by SBJ and the University of Massachusetts-Amherst reviewed four categories; content, commerce, design/technical and fan interactivity, using a 40-question, 122-point Internet audit. ranked third overall among all NBA teams (behind the Phoenix Suns and Memphis Grizzlies) and 29th overall of all 131 professional sports team sites.

Retail Operations Department:
The NBA has named the HEAT’s Retail Operations Department the “NBA Retailer of the Year 2003” for their outstanding guest service, creativity in sales efforts, in-arena per cap sales, and store layout, design and merchandising. The announcement was made last month at the NBA Retail Meeting in Orlando, FL. Miami Hoops Gear (in-Arena store) and (Internet Web site store) finished the 2002-03 NBA season ranked eighth for in-Arena per cap sales and are currently ranked seventh thus far this season.

Retail Operations Senior Director Andy Montero, Retail Operations Manager Rolando Travieso, Retail Operations Assistant Manager Brian Feuer, Retail Merchandising Coordinator Brenda Milan, and Retail Operations Intern Lindsey Shaffer comprise this outstanding department.
