The HEAT Group Recognized as One of CIO Magazine's Top 100 Award Honorees

The HEAT Group Selected For Their Excellence and Success in Technology Innovation for DigiTix Online System

MIAMI, 6/08 – IDG's CIO magazine recently announced The HEAT Group as a recipient of the 2010 CIO 100 Award. The 23rd annual award program recognizes 100 organizations around the world that exemplify the highest level of operational and strategic excellence in information technology (IT) through innovative practices and products. The HEAT Group is the first and only professional sports team in the world to have won this prestigious award.

A team of 40 judges chose The HEAT Group as one of 100 innovative organizations that uses IT effectively to create business value, specifically for their creation of the DigiTix system. Branded “All You Can HEAT,” DigiTix—a Sports & Entertainment industry first—allows customers to build their own “a la carte” partial season ticket plans with personalized HEAT experiences, providing customer incentives with real-time discounts based on their level of spending. The DigiTix system simplifies the order fulfillment process by allowing customers to select the games they want to purchase, at a price point they can afford. Fans have more options and are no longer limited to purchasing pre-packaged mini-plans that may contain less desirable opponents.

Built on Microsoft’s .NET platform, the business model behind the software is the result of an exhaustive actuarial analysis of historical ticket sales. By offering customers more flexibility, The HEAT Group has increased revenue per order significantly.

“I’m very proud of our IT team’s contributions which have led to this prestigious award,” said Tony Coba, Executive Vice President and Chief Information Officer of The HEAT Group. “This award places The HEAT Group and AmericanAirlines Arena among an elite group of distinguished organizations.”

The 2010 CIO 100 Awards will be presented at the Terranea Resort in Rancho Palos Verdes, California, on August 24th at the conclusion of the CIO 100 Symposium® and Awards Ceremony. Past honorees include Carnival Cruise Lines, 3M, American Airlines, eBay Inc., Microsoft, Apple Computers, Inc., The Boeing Company, The Eastman Kodak Company, Intel Corporation, FedEx Corporation, Ford Motor Company, Lockheed Martin Corporation, and National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA).
