The HEAT Defeated the Orlando Magic on Friday, July 13 by a score of 63-57. John Edwards paced the HEAT with 14 points and four rebounds. The six-point victory concluded the summer session with your Miami HEAT Summer League Team holding a 2-3 record and the Magic with a 3-2 mark.

HEAT Sign Daequan
The Miami HEAT announced July 5th that they have signed guard Daequan Cook, the 21st pick in the 2007 NBA Draft. Per team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Cook (6-5, 210-pounds) played one season at The Ohio State University before becoming an early entry candidate for the 2007 NBA Draft. He was voted as the Big Ten Sixth Man of the Year after averaging 9.8 points, 4.3 rebounds and 1.0 assists while shooting 44.5 percent from the field and 41.5 percent from three-point range in 39 games (one start). He was named Honorable Mention All Big Ten by the media after setting the OSU freshman record for made three-point field goals during a single-season with 54. Cook ranks second all-time in three-point shooting percentage among Ohio State freshman and finished the season third on the team in rebounds and fourth in scoring.

MIAMI, June 28 – The Miami HEAT announced today they have acquired the Indiana Pacers’ second-round pick in the 2009 NBA Draft in exchange for the draft rights to Stanko Barac (the 39th pick in the 2007 NBA Draft).

The 2006 NBA Champion Miami HEAT launched its new campaign designed to highlight the many activities taking place within the next few months. “Summer HEAT 2007 – There Is No Off-Season” will encompass the efforts put forth by the HEAT Basketball Operations staff as they look to add key pieces to an already existing strong HEAT roster and make other important decisions that will impact the future direction of the franchise.
