HEAT and WQBA-Univision Radio Extend Radio and Marketing Agreement

MIAMI, June 6 – The Miami HEAT announced today that it has signed a multi-year extension with top rated Miami-based Univision Radio station WQBA 1140AM to continue to broadcast all HEAT games in Spanish. WQBA-1140 AM “La Voz De Miami” has been the official Spanish radio station of the Miami HEAT for the past three years.

In addition to the radio agreement, the deal also includes a marketing agreement between the HEAT and the Univision Radio family in Miami, including Amor 107.5, LaKalle 98.3, Radio Mambí 710 AM and WQBA 1140AM.

“La Voz” José Pañeda, the Spanish voice of the HEAT, enters his 20th year with the team and his 19th season handling the play-by-play duties, while Joe Pujala enters his ninth year serving as analyst and host of the pre-game, halftime and post-game shows. As part of its agreement, WQBA will host a pre-game and post-game show providing the most in-depth coverage of HEAT basketball in Spanish. Additionally, a one hour weekly talk show will air during the regular season.

“We are very happy to continue our relationship with Univision Radio to provide the excitement of Miami HEAT basketball to our Spanish speaking fans,” said HEAT President of Business Operations Eric Woolworth. “We have enjoyed a very successful relationship the past three years including the 2006 Championship and look forward to the same in the future.”

“We are very happy to welcome back the Miami HEAT to WQBA 1140AM,” said Claudia Puig, Senior Vice President and Southeastern General Manager for Univision Radio. “The HEAT is a first-class organization on and off the court. Like WQBA 1140 AM, the Miami HEAT is committed to our community. The HEAT broadcasts are a perfect compliment to our quality lineup of local and national sports programming.”
