MIAMI, June 22 - The Miami HEAT announced today that the Charlotte Bobcats have selected HEAT center Loren Woods in the expansion draft.
MIAMI, June 18 - "Just overall it’s a great feeling to be picking down at #19 this year after the last couple years being at 10 and 5. MIAMI, June 15 - As part of its annual scholarship program, the Miami HEAT has awarded $10,000 in scholarships to four graduating seniors for use toward their college education. Melanie English, graduate of McArthur High School; Kate Justus, graduate of Homestead Senior High School; Christa McKenzie, graduate of Nova High School; and Annery Pulgar, graduate of Hialeah High School each won $2,500 in scholarships after being selected from a talented pool of more than 200 hopeful applicants.
MIAMI, June 7 - Miami HEAT Senior Vice President of Basketball Operations Andy Elisburg was honored at a dinner at the Doral Golf and Country Club on Saturday, June 5 with St. Thomas University’s inaugural Leader for Life Award. Miami attorney Ervin Gonzalez was also awarded the University’s inaugural Leader for Life Award.
MIAMI, June 4 - Last Friday morning was quite the happy ending to a stressful week of final exams for Hialeah High School senior Annery Pulgar. Not only did she learn that she was a recipient of one of four annual HEAT Scholarships, but she was delivered the news straight from HEAT star Caron Butler himself, who, joined by Burnie the HEAT mascot and school faculty, was waiting for her in the school’s front office to surprise her with a $2,500 check presentation.
MIAMI, June 2 - HEAT forward Lamar Odom is the recipient of the NBA Community Assist Award for the month of May. With a new city and a fresh start, Odom had a breakout 2003-04 season for the HEAT, leading them to an unlikely fourth seed in the playoffs and the Eastern Conference Semi-finals. Not only has Odom had tremendous success on the court, but he has also had a tremendous impact in the Miami community this season.

This marks the first time in his career that Van Gundy has earned Eastern Conference Coach of the Month honors and marks the fourth time in franchise history a Miami HEAT head coach has captured Coach of the Month honors.

MIAMI, Mar. 16 - The Miami HEAT and Sunshine Network, a Fox-owned regional sports network, today announced a new long-term agreement providing Sunshine exclusive regional television rights to the NBA franchise. This agreement extends a successful television and marketing partnership that began between the two parties more than a decade ago.
NEW YORK, Mar. 10 - The NBA and ESPN announced this afternoon the HEAT’s Mar. 26 home game against the Dallas Mavericks will now be broadcast nationally on ESPN. It can still be seen locally on UPN-33. The time of the game was been switched from 7:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. to accommodate the national television broadcast. ESPN has dropped its previously scheduled New Jersey at Boston contest in favor of the HEAT-Mavericks match-up.
NEW YORK, March 8 -- Lamar Odom and Houston Rockets' Yao Ming were named the Eastern Conference and Western Conference Players of the Week, respectively, for games played Monday, March 1 through Sunday, March 7. Odom led the HEAT to a 2-1 record this week, averaging 23.0 points, 13.3 rebounds and 7.7 assists per game. His 30-point, 19-rebound, 11-assist triple-double against Sacramento marked just the sixth 30-15-10 game in the NBA since 1989 and only the fourth triple-double in HEAT history.

MIAMI, Mar. 1 - Miami HEAT President Pat Riley announced today that rookie guard Dwyane Wade, who was named the NBA’s Eastern Conference Player of the Week last week, is expected to miss between seven-to-ten days after suffering a right mid foot bone contusion in yesterday afternoon’s game at Milwaukee. The injury occurred with 1:30 remaining in the first quarter, but Wade returned to action in the second quarter. He came out of the game for good with 5:50 remaining in the third quarter.

MIAMI, Jan. 19 - Miami HEAT President Pat Riley announced today that rookie guard Dwyane Wade, who injured his right wrist in a fall at Washington on Dec. 26 and has missed 10 of Miami’s last 12 games, had the cast removed from his wrist today and had the wrist placed in a splint. MIAMI, Nov. 6 - Miami HEAT President Pat Riley announced this afternoon that forward Malik Allen underwent successful surgery this morning. Allen had surgery to remove a bone spur on his right foot. The procedure was performed by HEAT team physician Dr. Jim Losito at Mercy Hospital. Allen will be required to wear a boot and is expected to be sidelined for six-to-eight weeks.

HEAT Announces Opening Day Roster
MIAMI, Oct. 28 - The Miami HEAT announced its 2003-04 opening day roster this afternoon. In addition, the HEAT announced that Caron Butler and Rasual Butler were placed on the injured list. Caron Butler had arthroscopic surgery on his left knee on Oct. 4th and is still in rehabilitation, while Rasual Butler suffered a fourth metacarpal fracture to his left hand. The team also has requested waivers on forward/center Cherokee Parks and forward Sean Lampley.
MIAMI, Oct. 24 - Miami HEAT President and Head Coach Pat Riley announced this afternoon that he has decided to step down as Head Coach of the Miami HEAT, but will continue to serve as team President. HEAT Managing General Partner Micky Arison and Riley jointly announced that former Assistant Head Coach Stan Van Gundy has been elevated to head coach. Van Gundy becomes the fifth head coach in franchise history.

MIAMI, July 7 - Miami HEAT team physician Dr. Harlan Selesnick was elected the 2002-03 Physician of the Year by the National Basketball Trainers Association (NBTA) at the recently completed Chicago Pre-Draft Camp. Beasley, the 2002-03 NCAA Division II Player of the Year, gained national attention after being named MVP of the 2003 Portsmouth Invitational Tournament where he averaged 14 points and 8.3 rebounds while shooting 54.1 percent from the floor.
