LeBron James Named Eastern Conference Player of the Month
MIAMI, February 4 The NBA announced today that Miami HEAT forward LeBron James has been named the NBAs Eastern Conference Player of the Month presented by Kia Motors for January 2011. This marks the 12th time in franchise history a HEAT player has earned Player of the Month honors. It is James second as a member of the HEAT. He and teammate Dwyane Wade were named Co-Players of the Month for December 2010.James played in 12 of the HEATs 14 games in January, averaging 30.6 points, 8.4 rebounds, 7.4 assists, 1.75 steals and a conference-high 40.6 minutes while shooting 47.9 percent from the field and 34.8 percent from three-point range. He posted seven double-doubles while leading the HEAT in assists a team-high 11 times, in scoring, steals and minutes seven times each, in blocks three times and in rebounds twice. James recorded one 40+ point game, five 30+ point games, nine 25+ point games and 12 20+ point games. He grabbed double-figure rebounds five times and dished out double-figure assists twice. He scored at least 25 points in eight straight games (January 1-22), and grabbed double-figure rebounds in a season-high three consecutive games (January 18-27), and in five of six games (January 7-27). When Miami faced Portland on January 9, he recorded 44 points and a season-high 13 rebounds, and scored 11 of Miamis final 15 points in regulation. Additionally, he scored eight of the HEATs 14 points in overtime. He was named Eastern Conference Player of the Week twice in January, and his 30.6 ppg is the sixth highest monthly average in HEAT history.
